Is the Android Auto System Voice Activated?

When the Android Auto System was first imagined, it was to include a voice activation option. However, during its first release, voice activation had not yet been perfected. Once the technology for voice activation came online, Google was quick to add it to the Android Auto System’s capability.

At first, the Android Auto System depended on a push-button mechanism. Soon, that mechanism moved to the steering wheel to help the driver keep their eyes on the road. Today, the Android Auto System can activate either through the steering wheel controls or via voice command. With the addition of the voice command option comes the ability to talk to the system while anywhere on the road through a USB cable.
