Heughs Canyon Trail

Just a 12 minute drive from Sandy to this trailhead, there are waterfalls and trees to provide shade for you and your dog. Heughs Canyon Trail is a 3.1 mile out-and-back trail, classified as “moderately-challenging.” There is a small parking lot on Wasatch Boulevard, where you can park then find your way to the start of the trailhead on a private drive. Broads Fork Trail

If you are looking for a trail that has a little less foot traffic, this is a great option. There is a rapid change in elevation, but visitors will soon enjoy a meadow of wildflowers– especially during the summer season. It’s 4.5 miles in and out, and unfortunately, pups aren’t allowed on this trail. Luckily, it’s only a 20 minute drive from Sandy!

Lake Blanche Trail

Another popular option is Lake Blanche trail. This trail is a popular option, especially during the summer. This trailhead can bring hikers to the Twin Peaks, Lake Blanche and a number of other destinations. Out and back, this trail is 6.8 miles and is considered a challenging route so get your gear on and head out!
