What is the Suggested Oil Change Frequency?
There is no universal answer to the question “how often should you change your oil?” While the general rule of thumb is changing your oil every 7,000 to 10,000 miles, there are a lot of factors that play into the accurate oil change frequency for your situation. Some of the main factors are the car that you drive— some cars require you to change the oil more often— and the type of driving you do on the Draper streets. You will need to adjust your oil change frequencies if you do any of the following types of drivings:
- Heavy towing
- Off-roading
- Commercial use
- Racing
Oil Change Frequency Tips
The service center at National Auto Plaza has tips for gauging how often you should change your oil, such as:
- Should your car use synthetic or conventional oil? Consult with your owner’s manual. You should be aware that synthetic oil costs more than conventional oil, but it lasts longer.
- Even if you don’t drive a lot on the Salt Lake City streets, you should at least change your oil twice every year since oil breaks down over time.
- When you change your oil, you should change your oil filter as well. Our parts center can take care of that for you!
